From Press Release
The Citrus Bowl Summer Face-Off and Florida High School Lacrosse Showcase will feature the top 100 high school lacrosse players that qualify for selection by attending regional tryouts scheduled during the month of May 2013 in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Boca Raton.
Held in conjunction with the Brine National Lacrosse Classic, regional team tryouts are open to all boys currently in grades 9-11. 25 players will be selected from each of the regional tryouts in Florida to advance to the Florida High School Lacrosse Showcase to be played at the Citrus Bowl Summer Faceoff in Orlando, June 1-2.
An awards dinner banquet honoring the players, coaches and families will be presented by Bright House Sports Network and held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort on May 31, 2013. Bright House Sports Network will provide media coverage of the regional tryouts and broadcast the Florida High School Lacrosse Showcase games.
The Florida High School Lacrosse Showcase will enable players to compete for “bragging rights” to determine the top region for high school lacrosse in the State of Florida. 25 players that demonstrate the highest level of potential will be selected by committee to join the Florida 22 team that will advance to the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic in Maryland, July 1-3, 2013 where they will represent the State of Florida and compete for a National Championship in front of NCAA lacrosse coaches from every division. While in Maryland, the team will compete at the Under Armour Shoot-Out at UMBC following the Brine National Lacrosse Classic.
Brian Duncan, Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Bolles School in Jacksonville said, “We hope that every high school lacrosse player in Florida takes the opportunity to attend the tryouts and compete for a roster spot. It is our intention to field a team with the top talent in Florida and show the country what Florida lacrosse is all about.
“Last year we had a very talented team and made it to the Elite 8 rounds of the National Championship. Our guys received a lot of calls and letters from college coaches after the event.” Duncan was an NCAA Division 1 assistant lacrosse coach at Jacksonville University prior to becoming the new Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Bolles.
