Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (PA) rising senior attackman Tasso Karras has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Wesleyan University.
Tasso Karras ledger:
High School: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: Attack
College Choice: Wesleyan University
Club Affiliation: Twist Lacrosse
Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: Chestnut Hill Academy Best Offensive Player of the Year 2012, Chestnut Hill Academy School Record for Most Goals in a Season (55) and Points (71), Fastest Player at SCH to 100 Goals (39 games), Prep School Showcase All-Star
What will you major in/study? Neurobiology
Why did you choose Wesleyan? “I chose Wesleyan University because of its tremendous balance between strong academics and great lacrosse. Coach John Raba has been with the program for 17 years and in that time he has made the Cardinals a great competitor within the NESCAC league. The coaching staff members as well as the players at Wesleyan carry themselves with great class and character. Because of my youngest brother who suffers from epilepsy, I plan on majoring in neurobiology, and Wesleyan just received a $1.49 million grant that will support research for epilepsy therapy.”
Outlook for your High School team next season? “We lost a handful of seniors, but Coach Mike DelGrande has compensated by reloading for next spring. We want to be very competitive in the tough Inter-Ac league.”
Thank You: “I would like to thank Coach Mike DelGrande for bringing me to SCH and giving me the tools I need to be a better lacrosse player. Without him pushing me to get better every day, I would not be the lacrosse player or person I am today.
“I would like to thank Miss Norma Jean Wingate, SCH’s athletic trainer. She keeps me and the rest of my teammates safe and able to play and win.
“I would like to thank Coach Jim Drake for introducing me to the sport of lacrosse and making me play attack at a young age.
“I would also like to thank Twist coaches Jack Devlin, Greg Flego, Harry Kleintz and Jon Serio for their support in the recruiting process.
“Finally, I would like to thank my parents and my brothers Alex and Anthony for all of the support and motivation they have given me. They have helped me get to where I am today.”
