Boys’ recruit: Massapequa (NY) junior midfielder Berge commits to Georgetown

03/19/2013 By TopLaxRecruits

Massapequa (NY) junior midfielder Craig Berge has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Georgetown University and begin the admission process.

Craig Berge ledger:

Craig Berge, (Left, #11)

High School: Massapequa High School, Massapequa, N.Y.

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Georgetown University

Club Affiliation: Long Island Jesters

Major lacrosse honors, All-Star teams, Camps, Showcases: 2012 All-Nassau County, Maverik Showtime All-Star, Brine National Lacrosse Classic All-Star, Rising Junior Long Island Showcase

Academic honors, service projects: High Honor Roll, National Honor Society

What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose Georgetown? “The education that Georgetown offers is not something you come across everyday. After college, I believe Georgetown can help me in a lot of different areas due to the diploma I will receive. When I stepped on the campus, I immediately fell in love with the school. The lacrosse program has an amazing tradition, and the coaching staff is made up of not only great coaches, but great people as well. Georgetown has nothing you can dislike in my opinion, which made my decision much easier. I am more than excited about becoming a Hoya.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “Last year we had a great season, unfortunately it did not pan out like we would have liked. We have a lot of returning talent, and I believe we are one of the top teams in the conference. The goal is to win a County Championship. All 35 guys on the team know that we should be playing at Hofstra in late May, if that’s not the case, we will all be disappointed. We’re a top contender for the Nassau County Championship, and that’s were we expect to be at the end of the year.”

Thank You: “My entire coaching staff at Massapequa failed to point me in the wrong direction throughout the entire process. The process was a lot longer for me than most of the other 2014 recruits, but, Coach Radomski stuck with me the entire way as I made my decision, and I can’t thank him enough. Also, my parents were extremely helpful throughout the process. They never put any pressure on me, and all they wished for was for me to be happy.”

Other schools considered: Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth
