Delbarton School (N.J.) junior attackman Matt Marone has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.

Why did you choose the school: “I chose Delaware because of the strong balance between academics and athletics and the proximity to my home. We’re only about two hours away in New Jersey, so my parents will be able to make it out to all the games. Those were the two main factors in my decision.”
Team outlook for 2013 season: “The team has big expectations this year. We have an extremely talented team that could do big things if we set our minds to it. We’re hoping to win the Group State Final and then move on to win the Tournament of Champions.”

Other info: Marone is the son of former Delaware standout Moses Marone, who is 12th all-time on the school’s scoring list, a 1979 Honorable Mention All-American and a key member of 1978 state champion Springfield-Delco (PA).
