Covington Catholic High School (KY) senior attack-midfielder Nick Stutler has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Manhattan College.

Nick Stutler ledger:

Nick Stutler

High School: Covington Catholic High School (Park Hills, Kentucky)

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Attack/Mid

College Choice: Manhattan College

Club Affiliations: Bluegrass Bats, Team Stickhead

Major lacrosse honors, All-Star teams, Camps, Showcases: Played on team Ohio at the Brine All-American National Lacrosse Classic. All-Star team at Gait Cup, All-Star Team at Southern Combat 99.

Academic honors, service projects: 1st and 2nd honors. 60 hours of community service throughout High School career.

What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose Manhattan? “Coming from a small, close-knit community, I really wanted to be a part of a team that had a lot of chemistry and camaraderie. When I met the team, that’s exactly what I saw. I also really enjoyed the campus and its location. The education and internship opportunities are phenomenal, and I’m really looking forward to experiencing that aspect of the school.

“Coach (Steve) Manitta was one of the first college coaches I’ve talked to that I felt was being completely honest with me when talking about his plans/expectations for me and the rest of the team. Coming from a lacrosse area that is just starting up and has not developed significantly thus far, I knew that Coach Manitta was taking a bit of a risk offering me, but I’m very thankful for him believing in me and I’m very excited for the opportunity to work hard every day to add success to the team in any way possible. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a team that wants to turn things around and do something special.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “This is our teams second season with a new head coach who is definitely pointing our team in the right direction. Our team is loaded with seniors, most of us playing together since the fifth grade, and we’re all really excited about the opportunities ahead of us.”

Thank You: “I’d like to thank my first coach, Tom Mckee, for all of the effort that he put forward to start and grow lacrosse in the Northern Kentucky area.

“I’d like to thank Pete Schroeder (Head Coach of Trinity High School, Louisivlle, Ky), who coached the Bluegrass Bats and significantly helped me improve my lacrosse IQ. I’d like to thank Logan Otto (Head Coach of Lexington Catholic, Lexington, Ky), for helping me throughout my recruiting process and always being someone to go to for advice pertaining to lacrosse.

“I’d like to thank my older brother, Mitch, for the countless hours shooting with each other in the backyard, and also always pushing me to work hard every single day to become the best athlete I can be. I’d like to thank my parents for sending me on the countless lacrosse trips I’ve been on and always being there to encourage me.

“I’d also like to thank everybody at Covington Catholic High School. I’ve learned more life lessons there than I ever would have at any other High School, and the friendships I’ve made there will last a lifetime.”

Other schools considered: Dartmouth, Bellarmine, High Point, Lynchburg
