Cherry Creek (CO) junior defenseman Matt Goettelman has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

College choice: Army (U.S. Military Academy)
Club affiliations: Denver Elite and Colorado Wild
Major lacrosse honors, camps: Adrenaline Black Card Showcase, NSCLA Championship, Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip and The Brine Shootout. Selected an All-Star at Maverik Showtime and Hoya 120. UPLAX. All-Star at Adrenaline High Rollers, Pumpkin Shootout, Denver Fall Team Camp.
What will you major in/study: Undecided
Why did you choose school: I’m honored for the opportunity to study at West Point because academics are second to none. I also chose Army because I want to serve our country as an Officer. To continue playing lacrosse in college at the highest level is like icing on the cake.
Other school considered? Georgetown, Princeton, Penn State, Air Force, and Navy.
Outlook for your high school team: “I’m really excited for this year. Our motto is ‘Team First.’ During spring break we’re playing St. Paul’s, Severn and Penn Charter. Our goal every year is to compete for a CHSAA state championship and this year is no exception.”
Thank yous: “I’d like to thank my parents for their guidance and teaching me the value of hard work while pushing me to dream big. I’d also like to thank my twin sister, Colby (she’s 2014 verbal commit to Boston College), and my youngest sister, Abby, for all of their support and encouragement. I also owe a huge thank you to all of my lacrosse coaches who have helped me throughout the years to become a better player and person. Finally, I’d like to thank Coach Alberici, Coach Diange and Coach Georgalas for giving me the opportunity to attend West Point and play on the Army men’s lacrosse team.”
