Boys’ recruit: Anderson (TX) senior midfielder Smith commits to Colorado College

Anderson High School (TX) senior midfielder Wake Smith has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Colorado College.

Wake Smith ledger:

Wake Smith

High School: Anderson High School, Austin, TX

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Colorado College

Club Affiliation: West Coast Starz, ATX Laxbats, Team Austin, American Revolution.

Major lacrosse honors, All-Star teams, Camps, Showcases: All-District Midfielder 2012, Unanimous All-State Midfielder 2013, Texas Top 99 Selection, Adrenaline Sonoma Shootout Elite All-Star Selection 2012.

Academic honors, service projects: 4x Academic All-District

What will you major in/study? Undecided with an interest in film making and creative writing.

Why did you choose Colorado College? “Colorado College has an absolutely incredible academic philosophy that I couldn’t more whole-heartedly align with. In addition, Coach (Sean) Woods couldn’t have done a better job of instilling a new degree of competitiveness and tangible National Championship aspirations. CC offers, the perfect balance of academics and athletics that I knew I sought in a school.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “The senior class I am apart of is small, but dense. We as seniors sought to really establish a culture change (toward a more competitive and brotherly spirit) and moreover, a tradition of winning. With that being said, we’re leaving this program with the most successful season Anderson lacrosse has ever seen, and, in addition, leaving behind a group of motivated and talented individuals with an insatiable desire for victory. So, I’d say the outlook is strong.”

Thank You: “All of the coaches I’ve worked with in my mere four years playing the sport have been absolutely instrumental in my recent successes. Off the top of my head I’d have to thank the entire Anderson Lacrosse coaching staff, and Noah Fink. Without them and their belief in me, I can confidently say that I wouldn’t have developed into the player I am today.”

Other schools considered: Stevenson, Cortland, Tufts, BU, Catawba, Nazareth, Denison, Trinity, Williams, Richmond
