Georgetown Prep (MD) boys’ lacrosse coach Kevin Giblin earned his 400th career win Thursday when his host Hoyas defeated Episcopal (VA), 12-2, in a DC IAC contest, the school has reported.
Giblin, who is in his 26th year coaching at Prep, has compiled a record of 400-87 while guiding the Hoyas to eight IAC titles (1993, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and finishing in the top 25 nationally (a record of 14 times), include achieving the #1 ranking in 2003 and 2006.
Giblin has been honored as “Coach of the Year” 12 times by various organizations including the Washington Post, the Gazette, US Lacrosse, the Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches Association, and the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Association.
He has coached over 25 high school All-Americans and has seen over 150 of his players go on to play lacrosse at the collegiate level.
He was inducted into Georgetown Prep’s Athletic Hall of Fame and the Potomac Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Giblin also co-founded the “Checking for Cancer” Invitational (PA) with former Washington College linemate and close friend John Nostrant (Haverford School) and founded the Jesuit Lacrosse Classic. He also was a USA U-19 Team Assistant Coach for the 2008 Gold Medal Winners.
