Joe Reid and Jack McCormick each scored four goals as ADVNC (Cal.) Elite defeated Laxdawgs Brown (Cal.), 11-5, to claim the High School Elite championship Sunday at the Adrenaline Challenge in Del Mar, Calif.

ADVNC reached the finals with a 15-6 rout of Utah Starz Elite Silver. Laxdawgs advanced to the finals by downing RC Starz Elite Silver, 7-5.
“We had a great group of guys that has played together for four years,” said Reid, a Casa Grande (CA) junior midfielder who has committed to Denver. “You always have a couple guys you don’t know well or don’t get along with your team.
“But we are all best friends. It’s awesome; we’ve known each other a long time and grown up together. I think we have the team chemistry. Usually on All-Stars teams people kind of play for themselves, but we always got off that extra pass.”
ADVNC features mostly players from the Bay Area suburbs and is coached by former Virginia Tewaaraton award winner Chris Rotelli
“We have 12 D1 commits on the team and coach Rotelli has helped us become better players,” Reid said.
Reid said he took a shot to the head in the first game and was not sure he’d come back. But he was not injured badly and quickly asserted himself.
“I actually thought I had a concussion in the first game, but I came back for the third game and finished up the tournament,” he said. “I got open enough to finish (for goals). But I don’t feel we had any standouts; everyone contributed and we had so many assisted goals.
“It was awesome to win the tournament. It’s the first one we have won. Everyone stepped up.
“It almost seemed like it was a high school game, the place was packed and it was loud. One of our key players (Kian Reno of Davis High) got injured and could not play, and we realty did it for him.”
The tourney featured many of the top teams from West of the Mississippi and included Elite class (A and B divisions) and High School Division.
