3d Lacrosse, the nation’s fastest-growing youth lacrosse training and events company (www.3dLacrosse.com), is further expanding its innovative, alternative Box/Field Hybrid Development instruction methodology in California with the opening of a new Los Angeles office to complement operations, staff, and offices in Northern California (North and South Bay), and Southern California (San Diego and Orange County).
“3d Lacrosse’s commitment to serving the highly-qualified talent pool of California players continues to grow,” said Greg Waldbaum, President and COO of 3d Lacrosse. “From new Adventure Series Camps to multi-day collegiate showcases, we are building a solid statewide framework for California players who plan to advance their game successfully based on our effective, standardized instruction.”
3d Lacrosse anticipates building a staff of at least a dozen local associates in Los Angeles, led by several new key team members, including:
Chris Malone, Director of 3d Los Angeles
Chris Malone moves to Los Angeles having served most recently as the Head Coach of the Arizona State University Sun Devils where he led the team to five MCLA Final Fours and two National Championship games. He has coached 31 All Americans, 7 Academic All Americans, and 33 All Conference players and was named the WCLL Coach of the Year in 2008. Previously, while coaching at The University of Pennsylvania, Malone helped the Quakers reach their first NCAA tournament appearance in 15 years. Born and raised in Maryland, he is a 1997 graduate of Loyola Blakefield and was a two-time All-American mid-fielder at University of Maryland. He served as team captain in 2001. Malone moved into the MLL via stints with the New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage and Chicago Machine.
Alex Weber, Regional Manager, Los Angeles
Alex Weber joins 3d Lacrosse in tandem with his current post as Head of Lacrosse for Harvard Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) where he is responsible for coaching and developing students in grades seven through 12. Weber was a four-year starter at The University of Pennsylvania where earned Academic All-American Honors. He is a graduate of the Fox Lane School (Westchester, NY) and is the third-highest Point Scorer in New York state lacrosse history. Weber is also active in the entertainment industry as a movie producer and actor/comedian. He has made multiple appearances
on Comedy Central’s series Tosh.O and produced, directed and edited the documentary, “Committed: The Movie,” which follows four young lacrosse players through their journey towards college recruitment.
Brian Kelly, 3d Lacrosse’s Western Regional Training Director (and Head Coach at Whittier College) added that, “Feedback from college coaches nationwide confirms that 3d Lacrosse players differentiate themselves from the pack with their keen ability to direct on-field strategy, to mount a solid, coordinated defense and to dodge, shoot and score. We are looking forward to enriching and raising Lacrosse IQ among Los Angeles players to improve their game today and to better develop them towards their college careers and beyond.”
