Junior Maddie Jenner won 14 draw controls and scored three goals Saturday night as McDonogh School continued its historic dominance of the girls’ lacrosse world by defeating Notre Dame Prep, 12-9, at Archbishop Spalding for its ninth straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship and eight straight undefeated season.
The Eagles, ranked No. 1 in the Summit Lacrosse Rankings all year and No. 1 by TopLaxRecruits every week since the site’s inception four years ago, finished 22-0 and has an almost unfathomable 177-game winning streak.
The Eagles are sure to finish as the No. 1 team in the Summit Rankings as well as all National rankings.
Fifth-ranked Notre Dame Prep (20-3) didn’t make it easy, but with Jenner dominating the draws, McDonogh had a 20-3 advantage overall and won every draw in the first half when the Eagles seized a
Julia Hoffman added three goals and SAndie Aldave and Blair Pearre also were key on groundballs for McDonogh, which actually trailed briefly in the first half before taking control and leading by as much as 10-4 in the second half before NDP made a late run.
The Eagles used a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead on Jenner’s free-position goal with 19:44 left in the game. McDonogh led the rest of the game.
Caitlyn Mossman led NDP with four goals.
